Contractors have retained an opt-out of the Conduct of Employment Agencies Regulations, following a campaign involving three industry groups. The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo), the Service Providers Association (SPA) and the Professional Contractors Group (PCG) came together in response to Department of Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) proposals.

An internet ad on an employment website to recruit male and female escorts has been deemed ‘misleading’ by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). The ad, which appeared on First4Companions.com, stated that “an additional charge may apply to become a full member with an enhanced listing on our database of escorts”.
