INTERNATIONAL India: 25m tourism jobs to come

India’s tourism minister Subodh Kant Sahai has called upon industry to work with the government to create 25m new jobs in the sector, reports India’s SME Times.
The Planning Commission of the 12th Five-Year Plan believes that every Rs10m (£124,000) invested can create around 80,000 employment opportunities.
Salil Bhandari, president of India’s PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, tells the paper that the tourism sector can play a key role in maintaining the strong economic growth of between 8% and 10%.
