MG seeks royalty escape


MG Rover Group is hoping to negotiate an early end to royalty payments to Honda on the UK company’s small and medium-sized cars. MG Rover uses the basic platform of the early 1990s Honda Civic car. The contract is to run until 2004 when a replacement for the Rover 45 is due.

Electricity price check


The electricity regulator Ofgem has invited comments on its review of the formula used to control energy prices, due to expire in March next year. Issues for consultation include the form and structure of the control and impact of new trading arrangements on the National Grid Company’s business, and the charges made by the NGC to its telecommunications associate, Energis.
Building site goes live


A new online construction portal, building-work.com, went live in August. The portal claims to be the first in its market to offer detailed cost control and process management solutions.
Toshiba farms out chips


Electronics firm Toshiba is to double the quantity of semiconductors it outsources over the next three years, taking it from the current level of 10 per cent to between 20 and 30 per cent.
