Recruiter, training company and consultancy, RTC Group, says it expects to report a loss for the first half of 2009 as a result of “a very difficult trading environment”.
Most UK companies have introduced a pay freeze, according to the 2009 FTSE 100 Directors’ Remuneration report by executive remuneration specialist Hewitt New Bridge Street.
The report shows that around 60% of companies have responded to the downturn by freezing pay in the past year, with the median salary of FTSE 100 highest paid directors being £800,000.
US staffing employment declined by 3.5% in the second quarter of the year, compared with the first quarter, according to data from the American Staffing Association.
The research found that US recruiters employed an average of 1.9m temporary and contract workers per day from April through June and 30.2% lower than in the second quarter of 2008.
OPD made a loss of £1.268m before income tax in the six months ending 30 June 2009. This compares with a profit of £5.713m in the same period last year.
Net fee income decreased by 28% to £34m.
