Following on from our story about IllicitEncounters, the extramarital dating site, in last issue’s Smalltalk (Recruiter, 8 July), we hear the site is on the lookout for a chief exec “to take the multi-million pound business to the next stage”.

(We’re intrigued to see what ‘the next stage’ will be…) Apparently several high-fliers from other dating agencies have already applied. However, the company told Recruiter that it had not enlisted the services of a recruitment agency and is instead looking internally at the core of people already working at IllicitEncounters, of which there are “four or five who are up for the job”.

“A few candidates were sent applications but later declined our offer of an interview as their spouse had forbidden them from attending. Although people may think our website is a salacious one, we are a dedicated team here at IllicitEncounters,” says site representative Sara Hartley. “It takes a great deal of professionalism and hard work to maintain a website as successful as ours.”

So if your husband or wife leaves for work one day in a Rover and arrives back home in a top of the range Mercedes, be sceptical of their ‘brand new bonus scheme’ story…
