Deloitte, the business advisory firm, is urging students to gain work experience during their holidays, to enhance their employability when starting their career.

Stevan Rolls, head of HR at Deloitte, says: “Companies want to employ people who have put their time to good use and gained transferable skills from their experience to date.

Not-for-profit professional body the Institute of Recruiters (IOR) has appointed a number of regional directors.

IT recruiter Penta Consulting has appointed Amy Carsen as assistant HR manager.  

Carsen joins from Barclays Capital where she was responsible for the recruitment and selection of new employees. She also has experience as a headhunter, having previously worked at Burberry and Harrods.

Standard Chartered Bank is recruit 1,800 new staff into its financial markets unit over the next three years, according to news agency Bloomberg.
