Twitter analytics gives recruiters new insight

Twitter is reportedly testing a new analytics product.

Twitter is reportedly testing a new analytics product. The online social and digital media resource Mashable says a “select” group of users has been chosen for the test and the product will provide information such as most successful Tweets and those which cause people to “unfollow”.

James Mayes, director of TweetJobs.net which connects recruiters with candidates by sending Tweets to industry and location specific Twitter accounts, told Recruiter that Twitter users have been “clamouring” for analytics such as this. “After all, it takes time and effort to represent yourself and/or your business on Twitter. We’ve all got time pressures, so the ability to be effective is paramount,” he said. “Many third party tools try to provide insight, but obviously, Twitter themselves hold all the cards so this should be a major step forward.”

Mayes believes recruiters can expect a wide range of benefits from this, including an insight into when their core audience uses Twitter, allowing them to be present or to tweet at the optimum time. He also welcomed the “visibility of unfollows”. “Much of the Twitter usage we see is developing through trial and error; this will offer hard evidence on which a recruiter can really fine-tune a strategy for the platform.”
