Indian engineering solutions providers and project specialist Voltas has appointed Swapnil Navalkar as general manager – corporate HR.

Navalkar, who  previously led the HR function at Upstream Oil & Gas Business, has also worked at Otis Elevator Company, Videocon, Mahindra & Mahindra, Siemens Information Systems, Covansys (India) and Mahindra Consulting.

Almost nine in 10 (88%) of employers are planning to maintain or increase their use of temporary workers in the next three months, according to May’s Jobs Outlook from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation.

The data also shows that one in three employers is planning to increase or keep static their long term use of agency staff.

Long-term joblessness among IT contractors has slumped dramatically over the last six months, according to a study by umbrella company giant group.

According to the study, the number of IT contractors who were out of work for three months or more fell by one third in the first quarter of this year.

Dillistone Group, parent company of executive recruitment software Dillistone System, has appointed Giles Robin Fearnley as a non-executive director.

Fearnley has 35 years’ experience in the passenger transport industry, from founding Prism Rail through to its sale to National Express.

Private equity board practice specialists Directorbank has appointed Kikka Makela as European account manager.

Operating from the firm’s London office, Makela will support Directorbank international clients with their European investment strategies and develop the company’s client and candidate network in the wider European market, especially in the Nordic region.

RIG Medical Recruit has announced that three of its trading companies - RIG Radiography, RIG Occupational Therapy and RIG HSS Recruit will now trade as RIG Healthcare Recruit. 

The new entity will specialise in providing locums in 24 clinical areas of AHP and HSS and 10 specialities of hospital doctors to both the public and private sectors, nationally.

Employers are offering resigning accountants 20% pay rises to retain their services, according to data from WH Mark Sattin. 

The data shows the average counter-offer made to departing employees was roughly 10% above their existing salary in 2008, while top talent is now being offered a pay rise of up to 20% to stay in their current jobs.
