Almost a quarter of UK recruiters are ending the year in financial difficulty, according to a report from Plimsoll.

The 2011 edition of the ‘Plimsoll Industry Analysis’ shows that 243 companies in the market are finishing the year in financial trouble.

Provider of senior interim executives Alium Partners has appointed Nigel Peters as director of the firm’s private sector practice.
 
Peters joins Alium from outsourcing firm Serco, where he was most recently the business development director for nuclear and energy and managing director of a sustainability services business unit.  

IT recruiter Parity Group has won a contract with NHS Direct to develop and support a new health information search portal.

The £1.4m contract is due for completion in March 2011.

The new system aims to help NHS Direct call centre staff in dealing with requests for information and enquiries from the general public.

Thomas has eight years experience within the IT recruitment field, most recently in business development at Computer People.

Recruitment process outsourcing firm Alexander Mann Solutions (AMS) has agreed a three-year contract with Premier Foods to manage the firm’s contingent workforce across 70 locations nationwide.

Premier Foods brands include Hovis, Mr Kipling, Bisto and Branston.

International recruiter Kelly Services has entered into a strategic alliance with Temp Holdings, an integrated HR services company in Japan.

Temp Holdings has purchased 4.8% of Kelly’s outstanding shares.

In February 2005 Kelly purchased an equity interest in Tempstaff. Kelly continues to hold shares in Temp Holdings.

Almost a third of employers (31%) report difficulties in filling key positions within their organisation, according to data from international recruiter Manpower.

According to the survey of more than 35,000 employers across 36 countries, the top hardest to fill jobs are skilled trades, sales representatives, technicians and engineers.
