Don't 'tick off' the interview during the recruitment cycle

With reference to Alex Brock’s Bloggers with Bite (Recruiter, 28 April), what a cracking article.

In the recruitment cycle the interview is critical to success and a stage that is often ’ticked’ all too quickly. I agree with Alex that missing out on this stage leads to a multitude of problems, lack of candidate control, an inability to properly sell a candidate, a lack of credibility in front of your client when the inevitable “oh, I didn’t know that” factor comes up.

One point that I would like to add to Alex’s comment is that a comprehensive candidate interview also provides the building block for good business development. A good interview should provide you with market knowledge, specific client knowledge, references, intelligence on a company’s strategy, recruitment needs, recruitment style etc… The 360 degree reference should be at the heart of recruitment.

Again a great article and I will be watching Alex’s blog more regularly.
