Education recruiters are benefitting from a "near recession proof" sector with increasing demand for personnel. Traditional skills shortages in maths and science are being compounded by the head teacher retirement time bomb and an increased lack of technology personnel.

The latest evidence to signal that the credit crunch is hitting the recruitment industry was revealed in November's Report on Jobs, compiled by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and accountancy firm KPMG.

Despite these concerns he is confident that recruiters are living in a golden age as far as the economy is concerned and says that times have never been better for the industry.

"Overall it's very buoyant and has been for several years now. Permanent recruitment is particularly strong with most of the major companies adopting a very confident outlook about jobs," he adds.
