Smaller employers who lack the financial resources to invest in social media should look to recruitment agencies to help them in this area, says Annapurna HR director James Ballard.

Unemployment in the Eurozone has reached its highest level since the Euro launched in 1999, climbing by 0.1% in September to reach 10.2% last month, reports The Times.

Spain (21.2%) and Greece (16.7%) unsurprisingly figure amongst the countries with the highest unemployment rates, with Latvia (16.2%) also suffering.

Christine Stimpel, country managing director for Germany at executive search firms Heidrick & Struggles, has been elected as chairman of the German Steering Committee of the Association of Executive Search Consultants (AESC).

Current incumbent Ulrich F Ackermann, managing partner of TRANSEARCH International Germany, will step down at the end of 2011 after five years in the post.

Staffing solutions firm First Choice Software has launched RDB ProNet Integration with online recruitment specialist Broadbean.

The integration allows better management of multi-posted jobs and those applying for them. Broadbean now processes all responses to job postings automatically through RDB ProNet.

Millie Banerjee CBE has been appointed chair of Working Links, an organisation which provides services to help get disadvantaged people into sustainable employment.

Private section job creation in the North-East went up between September and October but down in the rest of the UK, according to the Lloyds TSB North East Purchasing Managers Index (PMI).

The UK-wide PMI for employment dropped from 50.1 to 49.7 between September and October, indicating that overall growth of employment had turned into moderate job shrinkage between the two months.

Insurance distributor Kwik-Fit Financial Services will recruit 40 new sales consultants between now and January.

New hires will enter the firm’s car and home insurance divisions.

The new recruits will be based at the company’s Uddingston headquarters.

Financial, executive and corporate governance recruiter Alexander Daniels has recently appointed two new senior consultants, Louisa Smyth and Kerry Sheerman.

Smyth was previously assistant business manager at the Birmingham office of Reed Finance, where she worked for six years.

Engineering and construction recruiter TechConsult UK has appointed Dawn Smith as a senior recruitment consultant.

Specialising in energy, Smith will look to expand the company’s operations in the sector.
