The number of people claiming unemployment benefits in the US has dropped to a three-year low, reports Bloomberg News.

First-time jobless claims decreased to 402,000, a fall of 2,000 in the past week, while the total number of jobless benefits fell by nearly 100,000 to 3.65m, the lowest figure since September 2008.

Jobs board Totaljobs.com has seen a year-on-year increase of 45% in website traffic in September, and a 41% increase in job applications, totalling 2.3m applications through the website.

Portable power generator manufacturer Clear Energy Systems plans to build a new office and manufacturing plant near Phoenix, Arizona, reports USATODAY.com.

The facility will create 225 jobs over the next three years.

Manpower profits slump
