The Australian government has launched a six-month pilot project where government-funded Job Network providers promote defence careers among the unemployed. Defence minister Brendan Nelson said this would encourage employment providers help unemployed Australians into a career in the Australian Defence Force.





Shares in two of the FTSE 250's recruitment constituents, Michael Page and SThree, are near their peak, partly reflecting the strength of the wider market.

The third recruitment constituent, Hays, also enjoyed a strong run.
