Applicants flood in to become global whisky ambassador

Grant’s Whisky’s recruitment campaign, aimed at finding three candidates to travel to a trio of countries to promote its whisky, has had a “really good” response.
That’s according to the Steve Richards, a senior marketing consultant at the drinks company, who told Recruiter the campaign attracted applications from 28 different countries.
Earlier this month, Recruiter reported that as part of its search for a new global brand ambassador for 2018, Grant’s was seeking three lucky candidates to take part in an interview process involving a 10-day world tour, which could take in locations as far afield as Colombia, Poland, India and South Africa. Their journey will echo the trip taken in 1909 by Charles Grant Gordon, the son-in-law of the founder of Grant's Whisky, William Grant, who set sail with a suitcase of Grant's aiming to introduce it to the world.
Updating Recruiter on the firm’s progress to find the applicants, Richards revealed the firm’s YouTube video in support of the campaign has now been viewed more than 600,000 times, while the story about the campaign launch has been picked up by 50 different countries, in turn attracting applicants from 28 different countries.
Richards added the company is now preparing for a “mixer” event to be held between the end of September and early October, in which 20 shortlisted applicants will take part in a series of yet to be finalised challenges. Global brand ambassadors for the firm’s parent William Grant’s will be on hand to judge participants, along with independent experts including a travel expert, an entrepreneur and a top European bartender teacher.
The event will decide the three candidates that will go on the journey, with the 2018 global brand ambassador expected to be announced in November, Richards said.
