Fri, 27 Mar 2015Shell UK is yet to decide how many of its agency contractors it will shed from its North Sea operations, as the oil giant plans to cut 250 jobs across its North Sea operations this year.

The group announced in a statement yesterday (27 March) that it is planning to reduce the number of staff and agency contractors who support its UK North Sea operations in a bid to manage costs and improve competitive performance.

Staff and agency contractors based in Aberdeen and on installations in the North Sea were told of the plans during a meeting yesterday, while Shell UK has now begun a period of staff consultation.

A Shell UK spokesperson told Recruiter the group does not know at the moment what the breakdown will be between agency and Shell staff cuts, but this will be established during the staff consultation.

Recruiter approached agencies working with Shell but they were not prepared to comment on their client’s business.
