Companies risk missing out on top mobile talent if they do not both offer a ‘bring your own device’ (BYOD) policy and properly enable their staff to work on their devices.
This is according to the Global Mobile Workforce Report from networking, software and support firm iPass Enterprise Mobility Services, based on a survey of 1,150 mobile enterprise employees worldwide.
Over a third (35%) of those workers said that the company’s BYOD policy can sway their employment choices.
BYOD is crucial to such staff with 41% of workers saying lack of wi-fi coverage leaves them unproductive for at least a tenth of their working day, and nearly half of those said that proportion was potentially nearly a quarter.
Two-thirds (59%) of mobile workers have paid over $20 for the one-off use of wi-fi, while 24% have paid over $30, and 71% say they research wi-fi hotspot availability before they travel.
