Education impedes career growth, say MENA jobseekers

A poll from Middle East job site Bayt.com reveals that a fifth of professionals in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) do not believe that their education has prepared them for success in the workplace and is seen as a major impediment to career growth.
Tue, 25 Jun 2013A poll from Middle East job site Bayt.com reveals that a fifth of professionals in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) do not believe that their education has prepared them for success in the workplace and is seen as a major impediment to career growth.
Suhail Masri, vice president of sales at Bayt, says “21% of respondents state that a lack of education preparation is the biggest roadblock for career growth”. Of the survey of 10,000 individuals across 12 countries, Masri adds: “Our poll shows that professionals are searching for opportunities where they can learn and grow, so companies can attract top-quality candidates.”
Respondents believe that the state of the economy was also a major factor in their career development.
Among the 62.7% of those in the MENA region who believe that the job market in their country of residence is picking up, 30% of those state that it is doing so “very quickly”.
