Department store Debenhams is hoping that 430 new jobs at its renovated Oxford Street flagship store will “be welcomed by Londoners interested in a retail career having witnessed a great deal of job losses in the sector over the past year”.

This is according to the firm’s retail director, who says that the new store (pictured) “will set the standard in the UK as well as becoming a symbol for our international expansion”.

The £25m refurbishment sees the building opened up to allow more light throughout and a total makeover of the cosmetics department.

Of the 430 new jobs, 150 come in three new hospitality areas – a new restaurant, café and lounge bar.

The remaining 280 are sales roles across all departments of the store.

Jobseekers are advised to go to debenhams-jobs.com or enquire at their local store.
