Two technology firms – payment technology and merchant services provider Merchant Warehouse, and online publishing platform Squarespace – are to take on staff in their new international offices in Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic respectively.

Merchant Warehouse

A total of 70 staff in various development and support roles will be hired in the company’s new Belfast office over the next three years.

The US company’s other base is its Boston headquarters.

The base, known as Merchant Warehouse NI [Northern Ireland], was established with the help of investment agency Invest Northern Ireland.

Squarespace

All-in-one website publishing platform Squarespace is to create EMEA headquarters in Dublin with the creation of 100 jobs.

The new roles will be a variety of customer care jobs.

Supported by Irish government agency IDA Ireland, this is also Squarespace’s first office in addition to its headquarters, which are in New York.

Irish Taoiseach [prime minister] Enda Kenny says the move “is a signal of Ireland's growing reputation as the internet capital of Europe”.
