Manpower survey shows shortfalls in UK talent
Engineers topped the list of job titles experiencing talent shortage in the UK in 2011 in Manpower’s ‘2011 Global Talent Shortage Survey’.
Here’s the top 10 of UK jobs with talent shortfalls:
• Engineers
• Chefs/Cooks
• Management/Executive (Management/Corporate)
• Sales representatives
• Drivers
• Technicians
• Skilled trades
• Teachers
• Accounting and finance staff
• IT staff
The survey also found:
• One in six UK employers indicated difficulty in filling positions, up from one in 11 last year and now at the highest level since 2007, though still lower than the global average
• Only 12% of UK employers provide additional training and development to internal talent to tackle hard-to-fill positions, compared to 21% internationally
• Only 2% of UK employers cite pay as a contributor for not being able to fill positions, compared to 11% internationally
• Lack of job applications and technical skills were the reason for the difficulty experienced by 27% of UK employers.
