The HR director is the new marketing director

The talent you bring in to a company is equally as important as the marketing you do for your brand, according to US marketoonist Tom Fishburne.
Fishburne, the former marketer for San Francisco-based cleaning company Method, gave a talk entitled ‘The HR director is the new marketing director’, in which he said that every employee in the company should be responsible for marketing the company.
Speaking at the Dylan Forum, an event hosted in London yesterday [22 September] by marketing recruiter Dylan, he told the audience that this view would have huge implications on recruitment, as every staff member would be responsible for setting a company’s culture.
“Your brand should stand for all employees,” he told the audience. If your brand has the right “purpose”, he claimed, then it will make people join for the right reasons.
Last year Fishburne turned his hobby of drawing cartoons into a form of content marketing and an aid to “break through the clutter” — telling a story more succinctly than a marketing speech or a Powerpoint show.
