If I was In-House Hannah’s employer, I’d be asking myself the question: ‘Which adds more value, someone who spends her time copying and pasting names into her mobile, making her list look pretty with pictures or an experienced consultant who is going to network properly ie. get out and meet people?’
I’m sure Hannah has over 5,000 friends on Facebook as well as her ‘5,000 personally linked’ contacts. It rather begs the question: how many of those 5,000 contacts and friends has Hannah actually spoken to on the phone, let alone actually met in person? 50? 100?
Having ‘just started as an in-house recruiter’, I really don’t think Hannah is in a place to start slating recrutiment consultants and they way we work. Perhaps she should spend a few weeks outside the comfort of her non-competative environment and see how things are in the real world.
If I had the time to continue I would, but I have a typically demanding inhouse recruiter on the phone.
