The Department of Health (DH) has enlisted occupational psychologists and assessment specialist Mendas to develop an online profiling tool to recruit the ideal nurses of the future.

The tool, used to recruit Level 5 registered nurses in acute and community care roles, will be created following in-depth research and focus groups led by Mendas with current nurses, senior managers, nursing colleges and those responsible for recruitment within the sector.

The feedback will inform the building of a model of the ideal behavioural and competency-based characteristics for future nurses and will also lead the approach for ongoing attraction, selection and retention strategies.

The project is in line with the government’s ‘Modernising Nursing Careers’ agenda, which recognises the changing roles of nurses and the need to educate potential recruits and the wider public to the demands and the opportunities of a career in nursing.

International recruiter Manpower has formed a strategic global alliance with Polaris Project to fight human trafficking and forced labour in the US and Japan.

The agreement ensures that Manpower and Polaris will help survivors of forced labor recover and re-integrate into the community through greater access to sustainable, non-exploitative employment alternatives and training options.

The groups will co-operate in raising awareness of human trafficking among businesses, governments and communities, and exchange knowledge and expertise to enhance effectiveness in the anti-trafficking fight.

Manpower will also provide assessment, training and job search assistance services to qualified candidates among trafficking survivors identified by Polaris.

IT recruitment firm Modis, the IT services business unit of MPS Group, has agreed a deal with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) in Fort Worth, Texas.

Modis will supply technical resources to assist the BBB communications department in developing a new webinar program to improve service to its members.

The BBB operates from 125 offices, and works toward the advancement of marketplace trust, evaluating and monitoring more than 4m local and national businesses and charities in the US and Canada.
