Less than half the components for BMW’s new Mini, which will be built at the company’s Cowley plant in Oxford, are to come from the UK. Only 40 per cent of the parts will be UK sourced, compared with 95 per cent of those for the current Mini model, which is being produced by the Phoenix consortium that recently bought part of the Rover Group from BMW.
