The TUC has called for further increase in the national minimum wage. The union has urged the government to raise the minimum wage by 6.5% to more than £6.10 an hour from next October, rising to at least £6.50 by October 2010.

Net fee income at technical recruiter Matchtech Group increased by 8% to £16.5m in the six months ending 31 January 2009 compared to the same period a year ago.
Net fee income from contract placements was up 13% to £11.5m. However, permanent fees were virtually unchanged from the same period last year at £5m. NFI in Q1 rose 13% but this slowed to 3% in Q2.
