The UK jobs market has continued to decline, according to the latest report on jobs.

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG report shows that the number of permanent placements fell for an eighth consecutive month in November, with the rate of contraction accelerating to a new survey record.

IT recruiter Circle Recruitment has promoted Tariq Dirania to the position of director. Dirania will be responsible for eight consultants recruiting across the IT sector, including roles in digital media and IT security.

Employers are still holding Christmas parties for staff, according to hospitality recruiters.

Ellie Walsh, director at ESP Recruitment, told Recruiter: “Christmas parties are still going on. Budgets are being cut. People are not going crazy but things are still going ahead.”

Scottish multi-sector recruiter Be Personnel is to open its first English office in Harrogate.

Managed by directors Janine Lees and Neil Turnbull, the office will provide recruitment and associated consultancy services to the business in and around Harrogate and the whole North-East region.
