Reed.co.uk has announced a shortlist of 12 films for its Short Film Competition 2011.

Selected films will go before a panel of judges who will select the winner of this year’s £10,000 Grand Prix, as well as the Judges’ Commendation award (£1,000).

 

The shortlist includes:

Recruitment giant Hays has had its fine cut by the Competition Appeal Tribunal from £30.36m to £5.88m following an appeal against the level of a fine imposed by the Office of Fair Trading in September 2009.

Hays was one of six recruitment firms fined by the OFT for price-fixing and the collective boycott of another company in supplying candidates to the construction industry.

The government needs to do more to encourage women to enter IT professions, according to specialist recruitment consultancy IntaPeople.

The firm’s research shows that the percentage of applications made by female workers has dropped by 1.7% in the last 12 months.

Online network of regional job boards MyJobGroup.co.uk has appointed Geraldine Finn as managing director.

Finn, previously operations director of shipping quoting service Freightquote’s European operations, will be charged with building growth while spearheading further expansion as the UK jobs market continues to recover.

Information management provider Achilles Group has appointed Paul Wesley as group HR director for its global operation.

Wesley joins from the SHL Group where he was group HR director.

Recruitment software provider eploy has signed up Norman Broadbent.

The executive search firm will use eploy’s core web-based recruitment system and applicant tracking software.

Pinnacle Staffing Group has appointed Peter Gregory as a director of the healthcare recruiter.

Gregory, currently a director of the Pinnacle’s doctor recruitment subsidiaries, Medic International and Holt Doctors, will become chief executive of the firm.

Ireland has seen a 20% month-on-month rise in professional vacancies, according to the Morgan McKinley Irish Employment Monitor.

The Monitor also reveals the number of new professional job vacancies was up 75% year-on-year from March last year and was the highest recorded since October 2008.

Talent management provider SHL has appointed Stephen Read as vice-president of sales for UK and Ireland, and Claire Little as vice-president of professional services for UK and Ireland.

Executive search and selection firm O’Neill Consulting Group has expanded its global presence with the opening of an office in Shanghai, China.

The new office, located in one of the most important cultural, commercial and communications centres of China, will better enable O’Neill Consulting Group to offer retained executive search and selection services to clients throughout Asia.
