The number of people on long and short-term placements in Scotland rose in March, according to the latest Bank of Scotland ‘Report on Jobs’.

The report also shows permanent and temporary candidate availability rose during the month.

The Bank of Scotland Labour Market Barometer posted a reading of 53.8 in March, though the latest reading was down from February’s reading of 55.2.

The Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy (CIPFA) has launched full-service recruitment business CIPFA Recruitment Services.

The business will supply permanent finance staff at all levels, along with interim HR professionals. Services include campaign management, search and selection, bespoke assessments, career development and coaching.

More than two-thirds of IT workers are considering or have applied for IT-related jobs outside of the UK, according to findings from The IT Job Board.

Just 32% said that this wasn’t something they were considering.

Global construction firm Skanska has chosen talent management solutions provider Taleo’s unified talent management suite.

Laing will focus on fresh produce and agricultural sectors both in the UK and internationally.

Recruitment and business outsourcing provider Network Group Holdings (NGH) has made three new acquisitions.

NGH has bought the business and assets of accountancy and finance recruiter Sheridan Maine for £318,000 in cash for gross assets (including goodwill) of £100,000 and trade receivables of £218,000.

Provider of senior interim executives Alium Partners has promoted Nigel Peters to managing director.

The firm has also strengthened its team with a number of new appointments.

Emma Richards heads the firm’s procurement and supply chain practice, developing the practice and leading several existing major private and public sector accounts.

Construction recruiters are hiring again in anticipation of a bounceback of the sector, according to Richard Clarke, managing director at Midas Rec2Rec.

Clarke told Recruiter: “Recruiters are starting to beef up their teams now, as they expect the sector to pick up. A lot of construction still needs to happen in this country. Projects have been idle for two years.

Multi-sector recruiter Eximius Group has promoted three of its business leaders to managing director.

The new managing directors are Bradley Lewington, Nick Harrington and Ed Stevens.

Lewington joined Eximius in 2008 and has been instrumental in building the company’s footprint in the engineering recruitment marketplace.
