UK job opportunities rose by 16% in February on the previous month, according to the latest Reed Job Index.

The index rose 18 points month-on-month to 131 and employer demand rose 27 points, up 26%.

Telecoms, media and technology recruiter RP International is to be divided into contract and permanent teams under the leadership of chief executive Stuart Wilson and managing director Richard Goddard, respectively.

The office is the firm’s second in Australia, while Become will also be opening offices in Amsterdam and Asia within the next 12 months.

Running out of cash

A third of UK recruiters are making a loss, according to new research from market analysts Plimsoll.

“Excellent growth” in Continental Europe, South America and Asia has helped Hays record strong net fee growth for the quarter ended 31 March 2011.

The group’s results reveal that while growth in the UK and Ireland was stagnant, other international regions picked up the slack.
