US job creation has hit its highest levels since 2008, according to Gallup.

Based on 16,395 US employees’ self-reports, the Gallup job creation index for May improved to +7, up steadily this year and a total of eight points since January, with 28% hiring and 21% firing workers.

It cannot be denied that the growth in recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) (Recruiter, 9 June, ’Evolution of the species’) represents a threat to the continued employment of some within the industry, but what is often missed when considering outsourcing is the opportunity that it presents to enhance the roles and contribution levels of the professional recruiters within the organisation.

James Kilbane, co-founder of Irish recruitment group Grafton, has passed away following a battle with illness. Kilbane founded the Grafton Employment Group in 1982. He was joined one year later by Ken Belshaw and together they then opened their first office in Dublin.
