Beware of cyber-crime
Jobseekers who use mobile devices such as Smartphones are increasing their chances of being victims of cyber-crime. A study by Webroot, an internet security software company, found that increasing numbers of people are revealing their exact location on the internet or being tracked via geolocation applications installed onto their mobile devices.
According to Webroot, this increases their chances of being targeted by cyber-criminals. Jeff Horne, director of threat research at Webroot, said:”As location-based applications continue to gain popularity, we should all be increasingly aware of what cyber-criminals can do with the huge amount of personal data that is being shared by everyone on the web.” Webroot advises iPhone users to turn off the ’locate me’ feature on their iPhone and Smartphone users to turn off the GPS photo-tagging feature found on most Smartphones.
