More than half of students and graduates have seen workplace discrimination, and the majority would undertake unpaid internships even though they think they are unfair, recent surveys have shown.

Research from graduate jobs board Milkround shows that 37% of students have been discriminated against due to age or ethnicity, with 52% saying they had seen colleagues discriminated against.

IT recruitment firm and service provider FDM Group has appointed Brandt Rousseaux to the post of vice president for the company’s US office.

Rousseaux will oversee the firm’s expansion in the US from its present Wall Street base.

Melonie Debenham has been appointed business manager of  multi-sector recruiter Taskmaster’s new Hull office.

Daniel Collier and Hannah Thomas also join the team as consultants in the permanent and temporary divisions respectively.

Julie King also joins as a consultant, working across both the temporary and permanent divisions of the business.

Executive search firm Pedersen & Partners has appointed Sara Shirzad as country manager for Iran in the Tehran office.

In her new role Shirzad will be responsible for client relationship management and senior level recruitment assignments.

Pedersen & Partners, an international executive search firm, has appointed Lukasz Urban as principal in Poland.

In his new role in the Warsaw office, Urban will be responsible for client relationship management and senior level recruitment assignments across Pedersen & Partners.

Accountancy and financial recruiter Marks Sattin has promoted Paul Collier to UK & Ireland regional director.

Collier has over a decade of industry experience, having joined the company as a graduate in 2001.

In addition to the six present offices in the UK and Ireland, the company plans to open a Birmingham office in 2012.

Entrepreneur and chairman of recruitment process outsourcer HB Retinue, James Caan, has told a London audience earlier this week that attracting top talent in the current climate is just as hard as it has been for the last 30 years. See the video below for his comments:

Jark Construction has appointed Dan Chapman as sector manager at its Cambridge office.

Chapman has six years’ recruitment experience, all within the construction sector, most recently at Hays.

IT graduate employer, FDM Group, has appointed Paul Jobbins as its new global services director.

He will be responsible for overseeing FDM’s services, which include PMO, development, application support, infrastructure and testing.

Jobbins was previously at Securicor Information Systems, latterly as executive director in charge of three of the company’s four businesses.
