Vienna has the best standard of living in the world, according to business services firm Mercer’s 2011 Quality of Living Survey.
European cities represent over half the cities in the top 25 in the ranking, but Britain is not among these. London has the highest rank of any UK city, at 38, closely followed by Birmingham (52), Aberdeen (54) and Glasgow (56).
Healthcare agency Healthcare Locums (HCL) has announced that the Accounting and Actuarial Disciplinary Board (AADB) has started an investigation into the conduct of auditors between early 2008 and the end of June 2010.

On-demand talent management solutions provider Taleo has signed a definitive agreement to acquire cloud-based solutions provider Jobpartners for roughly $38m (£23.4m).
The acquisition has been approved by Jobpartners’ board of directors and is expected to close in the quarter ending September 30, 2011 subject to customary closing conditions.

Apparently, one in five workers never take a lunch break, while 60% regularly don’t take lunch, according to research from staffbay.com.

Eploy has added a new social recruiting toolkit to its software, aimed at the corporate market. Chris Bogh, technical director, told Recruiter that eploy didn’t want to jump on the social media bandwagon and rush new features to market when the new channels leapt on to the scene.

Half of GPs claim the new fit note system has not helped people keep their job during an illness, according to research conducted by ComRes on behalf of Legal & General.
The research also shows 47% of GPs disagree that the new system gives them a clearer role in helping people keep their jobs during an illness.
