Racist recruitment practices by recruiters have been revealed by the BBC in an undercover investigation.

BBC One’s Inside Out West programme found that 25 out out of 30 recruiters agreed to a request to only send white applicants for a receptionist’s job.

Technical and engineering recruiter TechConsult UK hopes to hire several new consultants after its success supplying a “pioneering” energy company.

Steve Guest, managing director of energy sector recruiter TechConsult UK, told Recruiterhe was “looking at taking on a number of fee earners fairly quickly”.  

The majority of British workers are prepared to take a pay-cut in order to retain colleagues, according to a new survey.

The survey, from job board fish4jobs, found that that although 49% of workers expect their salary to be cut or frozen this year, they would rather take a pay cut than watch colleagues be forced from their jobs

Recruiters have called for clarification from the Department of Health following the announcement that NHS PASA (Purchasing & Supply Agency) is to be closed within the next 12 months. PASA is to be replaced by a more commercially focused regionally based regime (See Recruiter news May 12 2009.)

Manchester Metropolitan University has chosen Microdec Profile RPM recruitment software for universities and job shops.

Microdec’s software will help the university Job Shop track student availability and moinitor the 20-hour limitation for international students.

Healthcare recruiter Castlerock Care Services, a national provider of temporary healthcare staff, has been awarded a place on the National Nursing Agency Framework Agreement .  


The contract, which replaces the multi-region framework and LAP3 agreements, will see Castlerock supply nurses to all NHS trusts in England for three years from 1 October.

Thousands of workers could be thrown off construction sites after the Learning and Skills Council cut its Train to Gain NVQ funding programme.

Construction news website Building.co.uk reports that the announcement, made at the end of July, affects more than 23,000 staff who have “experienced worker” CSCS cards.
