The airline industry is suffering from a hiring freeze, according to travel recruiters.

As Virgin Atlantic announced it could cut up to 600 jobs last week, John Tolmie, director at AA Appointments, told Recruiter that the travel sector first ran into problems last year.

The majority of PR companies do not plan to cut staffing, a new survey claims.

The survey, from PR search and selection firm VMA, shows that almost three-quarters of respondents will not cut headcount, while almost 25% of communications directors plan to increase employee numbers.


The survey also shows that 10% of PR agencies plan to make redundancies.

Engineering and call centre recruiter More Employment has secured a funding line from Cattles Invoice Finance.


Adam Lynk, director of More Employment, says: “The improved cash flow as a result of the funding from Cattles Invoice Finance will give me a greater degree of flexibility in running my business.”

A Welling gangmaster has had its licence revoked by the Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA).

The action was taken against High Class Recruitment based in Welling, Kent after the authority was informed that manager Paul Sangster had left the company. The GLA does not allow a licence to be held when it is clear that no person currently working is permitted to act as a gangmaster.
