Job opportunities fell by 6% in November, according to the latest Monster Employment Index.

International recruiter Michael Page International has reaped the rewards of international and discipline diversification with increased profits, according to its Q4 and full year update.

The group’s results reveal:

2010 saw the annual rate of business insolvencies fall for the first time in two years, according to the latest Insolvency Index from global information services company Experian. 

The index reveals 1.04% of UK businesses failed in 2010, compared to 1.25% in 2009, the first annual drop for two years.  Total insolvencies dropped from 24,209 in 2009 to 19,946 in 2010 - an 18% drop.

The proportion of women working as interim managers is on the rise, according to research from interim management solutions provider Interim Partners.

The research shows that women comprise 39% of all interim managers placed in Q3 2010, compared to just 28% of all interims two years ago (Q3 2008).

Graduate vacancies in last year’s recruitment season rose the first time since before the recession, according to a report from the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR).

The findings show employers saw an 8.9% rise in vacancies on the previous recruitment round.

Germany’s unemployment rate rose in January to nearly 8%, according to the country’s Federal Labour Office.

The number of unemployed in January rose 331,000 on the previous month to 3.4m, pushing the unemployment rate up 0.7 percentage points to 7.9%.

Digital recruiter Vivid Resourcing is relocate its digital resourcing team to larger premises at St John’s Street, Clerkenwell in London.

The firm adds it expects revenues for the financial year 2010-11 to exceed £6.5m, almost a 100% increase on the previous year.

WorkinFashion, the professional network for people working or seeking work in the fashion industry, has just been launched.

The site combines a Facebook/LinkedIn-type social network with a jobs board and candidate search. 

Recruiters advertising vacancies from retail to design can have a profile on WorkinFashion promote their business and advertise relevant jobs.
