Nine in 10 IT professionals think the sector discriminates on grounds of age, according to research from IT and telecommunications recruiter Greythorn.

The research shows that 75% of IT professionals think the industry discriminates against the over 50s.

Sales recruiter BTA Sales Recruitment has opened an office in New York City.

The firm says the decision to open a US branch came after demand from UK-based US corporations, which has led to the move with one of BTA’s most experienced business managers, Hamish Scott, who will lead the operation.

More than nine in 10 (95%) of firms expect to increase or maintain permanent headcount in the next three months, according to the latest Recruitment & Employment Confederation’s Jobs Outlook.

The outlook reveals that 21% predict they would be adding to their headcounts during the year, 74% plan to keep their workforce numbers static and just 5% expect to decrease numbers.

While 65% of HR departments perceive themselves as a strategic partner to their business, just 15% of activities carried out by HR departments across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) are related to pure strategic interventions, according to a survey of 500 HR directors by Mercer.

Built environment recruiter AndersElite, has launched an IT division in the UK. The London-based IT solutions team will provide a full range of IT recruitment services including permanent and contract placement, as well as managed staffing programs and recruitment process outsourcing services. 

Confidence on career prospects has surged among IT contractors in the financial services sector over the last 12 months, according to research by contractor services provider giant group.

The research shows 36.7% of IT contractors think the financial services sector will create the most IT jobs over the year, up from 22% this time last year.
