Accountancy recruiter Walker Andersen, the newly launched specialist recruitment brand of Andersen Partnership, has appointed Brian Schroder as a director of the partnership.

Schroder spent the past eight years with Robert Half in the US and Sydney where he was a director.

More than three in four (78%) of UK online retailers plan to recruit workers in 2010, according to research by e-retail industry group IMRG.

The research also shows 39% of members say that they intend to recruit additional staff within three months.

Lucy Crittenden has been promoted to graduate recruitment manager at law firm Reed Smith.

Crittenden is a qualified solicitor and before joining Reed Smith in 2007, she worked at recruitment consultancy Hudson recruiting lawyers into the South-West market.

Insurance firm AXA has no further plans to outsource any more jobs in 2010, according to group HR director Sonia Wolsey-Cooper.

Wolsey-Cooper’s comments follow an interview in the Financial Times in which Capita’s chief operating officer predicted the outsourcing firm would increase its Indian operations by 4,500 to 5,000 people in the next 18 months.

Workers are increasingly looking to work abroad, according to research from Totaljobs.com.

The research, including nations ranging from Canada, Malaysia, Denmark and Morocco, shows that 72% of workers, compared to 62% in 2006, were willing to relocate abroad, while 46% now say they are willing to work abroad for an extended period, against 29% in 2006.

Permanent and temporary appointments increased, according to September’s REC and KPMG’s latest report on jobs.

Both permanent placements and temporary/contract staff billings rose for the second month in a row in September and at slightly sharper rates than in August.
