UK online recruitment activity bounced back after January’s seasonal blip to reach its highest levels since December 2008, according to the latest Monster Employment Index.

The Australian arm of recruitment advertising firm TMP Worldwide was placed into voluntary administration on Wednesday after falling victim to the global financial crisis. According to a report in The Australian newspaper, around 200 jobs are at risk at six locations around the country.

Kellan Group has announced a loss of £3.2m for the first half of 2009.

This compares with a profit of £1.3m in the same period in 2008.

Revenue fell by 40% to £15.2m from £25.4m in 2008 as the company was hit by the general decline in recruitment in the first half of 2009, and its historical dependence on permanent recruitment.
