Metric Search secures BGF investment to drive US growth

Specialist recruitment company Metric Search has secured a multi-million-pound investment from BGF, a major growth capital investor in the UK and Ireland.

Founded in 2019 by Joe Jani in New York, Metric Search sources skilled, technical talent in the life sciences and energy/infrastructure sectors. With its UK headquarters in Nottingham, the business has offices in New York, London and Florida to service its growing US customer base.

The funding from BGF will allow Metric to further extend its footprint in the US recruitment market, which is worth an estimated $216bn (£166.4bn), by expanding its offering into dedicated executive search, contract recruitment and further niche specialisms.

The deal was led by Adam Huckerby, Sam Giurani and Seb Saywood, investors in BGF’s Midlands team. Andy McCrae – part of BGF’s Talent Network – is joining as non-executive chair. He has previously worked with recruiters Phaidon International, Oliver James and SR Group, having previously worked with a range of PE-backed businesses and entrepreneurs. In addition, John-Joe Walker has been appointed as chief commercial officer to ensure the company offers the best level of client care across its global office base, alongside Zac Flint as finance director.

Cowgills advised Metric’s management on the deal.

BGF was set up in 2011 and has invested £4bn in over 560 companies. BGF invests in growing businesses in the UK and Ireland through its network of 15 offices.
