Nodal Labs signs £250m deal with construction recruiter Minstrell

Nodal Labs, a blockchain-powered freelance marketplace, has inked a deal with specialist construction & engineering recruitment firm Minstrell valued at £250m over five years.

The Nodal platform launches today (29 April) with the aim of giving employers instant access to a talent pool of freelancers, with skills verified by others in the industry. For freelancers, the platform uses a system of smart contracts to put a halt to late payments and “unfair scope creep”, which Nodal says has become “an endemic problem in the freelance community”.

Work and skills are continuously validated and recorded each time an action is performed, a Nodal statement said.

Nodal will initially serve the creative and visual effects (VFX), and construction, property and engineering sectors where, according to the company, “the challenges of skills verification and late payment are most severe”.

In addition to Minstrell Recruitment, Nodal’s clients include architectural design firm Foster & Partners, creative studio Access VFX, and VFX company Union VFX.
