Ex-Blue Arrow recruiter jailed after glassing men outside pub

A Bristol-based recruiter has been fired following being jailed for three years after she was found to have launched an attack on two men armed with a broken wine glass.

The Bristol Post reports Bristol Crown Court heard how Lynn Tonks, an associate director at blue-collar staffing specialist Blue Arrow’s Bristol operation, launched the attack at the New Moon pub when she decided a man who was with two friends had given her a ‘dirty look’.

The court heard Tonks walked up to Simon Dove and slapped him hard in the face, with the men remonstrating with her, but then they decided to leave.

Tonks was then seen to drain her glass of wine on the floor and put it in her jacket pocket. Outside the pub, while holding the glass she then delivered a “roundhouse” blow to the face of Ashley Williams.

Leaving Williams with blood pouring from his face, and now holding the stem of the glass with a shard attached, the court heard, she then punched Dove, causing a large, arching gash, containing fragments of bone and cracking his eye socket.

Tonks, who denied the offences, was found guilty and jailed for three years.

When contacted by Recruiter, Blue Arrow said in a statement: "As you can imagine Blue Arrow is shocked by Lynn Tonks’ behaviour as reported in the press. This behaviour is not at all aligned to the values that are so important to us at Blue Arrow, and her contract of employment has of course been terminated. Our thoughts are with all those affected by the incident."
