Rullion eyes overseas expansion despite shutting Liverpool office

Even though Rullion has closed its Liverpool operation, the technical, commercial, IT and engineering staffing specialist is eyeing expansion overseas in the next year.

Speaking to Recruiter late last week, a spokesperson for Rullion revealed the agency closed its Liverpool office, home to eight staff, a fortnight ago, as it didn’t make “commercial sense” to keep the small Liverpool operation open. The action followed a review of the business, which the firm carried out last year.

The spokesperson added all eight employees at the Liverpool office have been offered the opportunity to relocate to the firm’s new Manchester-based centre of excellence, while consultation with these staff is ongoing and the firm is doing its best to accommodate these employees.

The Liverpool office provided temps and contractors in commercial, contact centre, entry-level marketing roles and administration roles. Clients will now be served from the group’s Manchester office.

But despite the Liverpool office closure, Rullion’s emphasis is very much on expansion, the spokesperson added.

“We’re really ramping up our activity across all areas and these new areas of niche workforce solutions and managed solutions are going to be the driving force behind that. We want to expand internationally. We’re looking at that already with plans for 2018.

“We’re looking to expand in the offices we already have in Manchester and in London, so we’re looking to grow. The Manchester-based team that specialises in niche skill sets are looking to double in headcount – going from 30 to 60 by the end of this year and 60-120 next year and so on.

“We’re really keen to get them overseas. They’re already starting to work roles overseas [from the Manchester office]. We’re looking to leverage that and grow really quickly.”
