International environmental services company RSK Group is expanding its graduate programme for 2016, despite the falling price of oil that has led to thousands of job losses in the oil industry.

The company plans to create four graduates placements in the Middle East, the first time it has created dedicated roles in the region. Technical graduates will take on sales and marketing roles in the first instance to help support growth in the Middle East, before being assigned to different specialisms within the wider business.

“Despite current challenges in the oil sector, the oil industry is continuing to carry out land remediation work across Europe and the Middle East and we are very much involved in this,” Garry Charnock, director at RSK Group, told Recruiter.

The new graduates in the Middle East are in addition to 40 graduate places in the UK. The company’s UK scheme has been running since 2010, covering its geosciences, environment and planning divisions.

RSK is currently seeking applications for the next tranche of graduates to join the geosciences programme, and placements are due to open up soon for other environmental departments. RSK’s graduate scheme lasts for 24 months.
