Mainland Europe HR services provider USG People has lost a €16.9m (£12.2m) appeal against the French social security authority URSSAF. 

USG People had lodged the appeal against a URSSAF assessment that tax and social security contributions owed on the salaries of temporary workers were calculated incorrectly.

In a statement, the company said it would “study the ruling and look into the legal possibilities of lodging an appeal with a higher court”.
