Dubai Parks and Resorts, which is creating multi-themed family entertainment parks in the region, has launched a major programme to target more than 1,000 UAE nationals.

The company announced it is to dedicate more than a third of its jobs to Emiratis at three differing levels:

• Forsati, meaning ‘opportunity’ in Arabic, will comprise a development programme for UAE Nationals of high-school education or below, providing six months training.

• Sahim, Arabic for ‘contribute’, will recruit UAE nationals at all levels with high-school education and above for a minimum three-year period, and across all company departments.

• Helmi, which means ‘my dream’ in Arabic, is a graduate scholarship programme.

In a statement, company chief executive Raed Al Nuaimi, said in a statement the programme would help build a talent pool of Emiratis skilled in the theme park industry.

“We believe that alongside our investment in building a robust leisure industry infrastructure, it is equally important to inspire a new generation of Emirati talent to drive its operations. This is key to the long-term sustainability of the theme park industry in the UAE.”

Emiratisation, a government-set target for the proportion of jobs to be filled by UAE nationals, varies according to industry sector.

The theme parks are set to open in October next year.
