Internal staff mobility is a priority for global luxury hotel chain Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, which has a goal of relocating 10% of its workforce annually, the HR director at its London hotel at The Shard has said.
José Ruiz told a London audience last week that the company also promotes one to three-month temporary assignments away from employees’ home sites so that they can experience work in other countries and at other Shangri-La operations around the world.
“Mobility within the company is a must,” Ruiz told Recruiter after his comments at a talent mobility employer breakfast hosted by totaljobs.com.
About 12% of the hotel chain’s workforce relocated last year between its 80 locations, Ruiz said.
The temporary assignment Explorer programme is one method of encouraging internal mobility with fewer visa restrictions, Ruiz said.
