Marshall Evans, industrial recruiter Staffline’s former operations director, has been appointed to the board of directors at the Gangmasters Licensing Authority.
Evans retired from Staffline's board in April 2013 following 13 years with the group but remains a non-executive director at the Recruitment & Employment Confederation.
Five other new recruits join Evans on the board, including: HR specialist Simon Allbutt; outgoing chief executive of the Security Industry Authority Bill Butler; employment, skills and corporate director at the Food and Drink Federation Angela Coleshill; professor Linda Dickens MBE, an emeritus professor of industrial relations at the University of Warwick and an independent member of the Council of Acas; and Paul Williams, chief executive of the Sea Fish Industry and a council member of the Shellfish Association of Great Britain.
Two remaining board positions will be filled later in the year. The first meeting of the new GLA Board will be on 22 April ,when it will review the GLA’s three-year strategic plan and the budget for 2015-16.
Board members will consider how it will engage with GLA’s stakeholder community through advisory committees, liaison groups and one-to-one visits.
Key GLA priorities for the year ahead include implementing the GLA Licensing Standards to ensure that they best support the authority’s strategic aim, priorities and outcomes, and presenting alternative sustainable funding models for consideration by the Home Office.
