Fri, 20 Feb 2015The Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) is to begin recruiting pensions advisers for a “handful” of new locations to supply the at-retirement ‘guidance guarantee’, promised by the chancellor in last year’s Budget.
In his Budget speech last April, Chancellor George Osborne announced people approaching retirement will be able to take more of their pension as cash, or ‘drawdown’ more of it as income, as opposed to the previous system where they were required to take their pension as a guaranteed income known as an annuity. To support this guarantee, Osborne added that from April 2015 people are to be given a guarantee of face-to-face guidance.
The Citizens Advice Bureau was subsequently charged with delivering this guidance at 44 bureaux, announced last month, across East of England, London, North-East, North-West, South-East, South-West, West Midlands, Yorkshire and Humber, and Wales.
A CAB spokeswoman told Recruiter the organisation has used social media, jobs sites, ads in pension journals and a dedicated portal to recruit for the pension adviser roles at these sites, with 150 people hired so far.
“We have offer letters out there at the moment and we’re hoping to get more acceptances and appointments in the next few weeks.
“We’re doing further targeted recruitment in particular regions,” she added.
“We’ve announced the 44 bureaux last month … We’re expecting to announce a handful of extra delivery bureaux shortly.”
No further details were available by press deadlines.
